When I first got my cat, one of the first things recommended to me was Grannick’s Bitter Apple Taste Deterrent. As every cat owner knows, even the cutest kitties are dangerous to our drapes and furniture!
Discourages fur biting, hair chewing, scratching. Will not stain.
I took the advice I was given, and started using Grannick’s right away. I found it comes in an 8-ounce spray bottle that looks like a common bottle of hairspray, so it’s easy to use
I followed suggestions and sprayed it on furniture while my cat was scratching so that she would associate the bitter taste with the unwanted behaviour. After the first spray, it was obvious that she did not like the smell of the product!
I’m happy to say I’ve not had to use the product on the same locations twice!
On a few occasions, depending on where the spray was applied, my cat didn’t seem to notice it. This could be due to differences in material.
Paws up or down?
After applying the spray on three occasions, my cat was deterred from scratching the couch, and stopped climbing the blinds. When I used it alongside other products (such as double-sided tape), scratching incidents seemed to decline or stop.
On occasions when my cat starts to scratch again, re-application of the spray seems to work in dissuading her from continuing the undesirable behaviour.
